Flying High: Honoring the Year of Agriculture in Augusta, GA

Last week, we received a powerful symbol of recognition and hope—a United States flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol at the request of Congressman Rick W. Allen, commemorating 2025 as The Year of Agriculture in Augusta, Georgia. Along with the flag came an official certificate of authenticity, which we proudly share with you today.

Flying a flag over the Capitol is more than a ceremonial act—it represents national acknowledgment, a gesture of unity, and a tribute to the enduring efforts of those working for the greater good. For our community, this flag honors the commitment of the Augusta Agribusiness Committee, whose members work daily to increase food access, support local growers, and mentor the next generation of agricultural leaders.

As we move through this important year, this flag reminds us that our work matters—not just locally, but nationally. It affirms that our farms, gardens, policies, and partnerships are part of a broader movement toward equity, sustainability, and self-determination in the food system.
